New Zealand Trip-Day 6

Day 6: BEAUTIFUL Beach & Nana's Birthday Bash!!

We took an amazingly scenic drive to another west coast beach on the Tasman Sea....it was AMAZINGLY ASTONISHING. The pictures totally speak for themselves...

The New Zealand sun is PIERCING. You can get crazy burned in like 5 minutes. We lathered on the SPF. It worked fine for me. However,as you will see in the last pic of this post, Katie didn't fare so well :)
Big ole waves....

BLACK sand. It had an incredible velvety feel to it...
You can't really see that well in this pic, but the wind was pretty wild and the black sand would cover every speck of the bod, as well as in every orifice :)
Nice tan line Katie :)

Just around a big cliff of the beach was this MASSIVE seagull (they called them something else, but they looked just like seagulls) colony. It was BEAUTIFUL. It smelled AWFUL :)
The white layer on top of this huge rock think is seagulls....

ummmmmm.....hello??? Gorgeous.

WHAT?? I mean, i just couldn't take enough pics....
The bride and groom to be :)

Wowser's...
Some very BRAVE surfers :)
They don't have ketchup there. Instead, they give you a can of tomato sauce. Definitely NOT the same :)

I know...totally inappropriate....but I couldn't pass up the opportunity for this pic. You just don't see this everyday...ha! And yes, if you are confused...that IS a man.... :)
Georgie taking shelter in fear of getting fried by the blazing sun....
Katie, on the other hand, soaking in the rays....in complete denial of the blazing sun :)
Racing into the water

This is about how far we got...the water was frigid!!
On our drive home from the beach, we stopped to hang out with these little guys....
SO pretty....
He definitely looks like he is about to charge me....
That evening we went out to dinner with Mark and his family to celebrate his Nana's birthday. We went to this awesome Thai restaurant. YUMMY. This is Mark's cousins, Troy and Guy. They are brothers. I know....they look about as much alike as my girls :). We got to spend a lot of time with these crazy fellas....and crazy they were! So great to meet ya'll!!
(L-R) Mark's Auntie, Nana, Mom, and Uncle. Such a fabulous family!
The 3 amigos. As I said, in this pic you can see that the NZ sun definitely can fry you. Katie = Exibit A :)

Only TWO more days until Shane arrives....Whoop Whoop!
