D.C.....Whoop Whoop!!!!

Shane and I spent the last week of June in Washington, D.C.!! Yes, just me and Shane. Our Kiwi friend, Josh and our seminary friend, Stacey got married on June 27th in D.C. Shane was in the wedding and we decided to go celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary (it was back in May, but we weren't able to do anything at the time) in D.C. since we were already going to be up there for the wedding. Gran (Shane's mom) graciously offered to come down to Orlando and keep the girls for the week (YES, the week....I don't know if she will ever volunteer for a whole week again...but I'm glad she did this time :) This was our first time to D.C so needless to say we were super excited. The first few days we did all the tourist stuff and then the last few days were wedding activities. WE HAD A BLAST!!! The picture above was taken right before our plane took off. I felt like a 5-year-old heading to Disney World for the first time :) Shane was already calling to check on the girls. He had a much harder time leaving them than I did!

We stayed in Alexandria, VA. It was absolutely beautiful. Some of the members of Stacey's (the bride) dad's church offered to house people coming up for the wedding. We stayed with this sweet lady that we had never met for a whole week. It was such an awesome example of gracious hospitality! The first night there we went to Old Town Alexandria and ate at this fantastic Thai restaurant on the river.

Arlington Cementary

Mark and Georgie (our Kiwi friends) met up with us as we tackled all the monuments, museums, etc. etc. I think we walked like 500 miles atleast....

WWII Memorial along with the Washington Monument in the background

Lincoln Memorial....way cool

In front of the White House

It was crazy that we were standing right in front of the Capital...What?!?!

One of our friends and former USA students, Jana, lives in D.C. now. It had been atmost 5 years since we had seen her. She took us out to this fabulous Italian restaurant followed by icecream, of course :)

The bacherlorette party...Fun times!!

Me and Georgie....ahhhhh!! I miss you so much already!! Come back now!!

Me and the hubby at the wedding

The happy couple!! Congrats you guys!

This is a picture of almost all of the Kiwi's that were able to come over for the wedding. We have not seen them since we were in New Zealand in 2002. We had SO much fun catching up with all of them again.

Wow! Looks like such fun times! Reminds me of all the places I used to bicycle around DC! I am so glad the two of you had some time away, but know how hard it was without the girls...love the random pictures. Beautiful family!
Blessings...
