We love our Kiwi friends!

Shane and I helped lead a team of students to Dunedin, New Zealand back in the summer of 2002. While we were there we met Mark and Jess Smith. Mark was the pastor of the church we attended during our two month stay in Dunedin. We quickly became friends and have stayed in touch the past 9 years. Jess told me a couple of months ago that their church was sending them and their four children on sabbatical for a few months and they were going to be spending a majority of that time in Birmingham, AL! We were so excited that they would be so close to us. Last week they ventured down to Mobile to visit for a few days. It was a BLAST to see them and catch up and meet their four adorable children.

Since it was a zillion degrees we asked our friends, the Thompsons, if we could all come over and crash their pool....
The Smith crew, Shane and the girls, and Ellen, Henry, and Zachary....

Jess and their 4th child, Joel (the lone boy in the fam :)
Pastor Mark and one of his cute little blondies...

After we were all pooled-out, we all headed back to our house to grill some yummy burgs and dogs.

Gabbie and her new bestie :)
Joel going for a spin....
All the girlies playing dress-up....TOO cute!
The four smallest ones claimed the kiddie table :)

While they were here we had the incredible privilege of taking them to Chick-fil-A for their FIRST TIME EVER!!! Can you imagine NOT having chick-fil-A until you were 30-something??? or even not having it until your 3??? Needless to say, they were HUGE fans, of course :)

The chicas...
HayHay and Gigi were in town as well :)

Total preciousness!

They were big fans of the free refills (which they don't have in New Zealand) and the "trade-your-toy-for-an-icecream" option :)

It was SOOOOO fabulous seeing you guys!!!! What a gift to be able to spend some time with you guys again after 9 years!! We love ya'll!!
