NYC: Day Two!!

Well the main reason we planned this trip was to celebrate the hubs big 4-0….Day 2 of NYC was the big day!!

We started our Day 2 adventures at Central Park…..

I have ALWAYS wanted to go for a RUN in Central Park….soooooo, I did just that! It was SOOOO pretty and so surreal….

While I was living one of my dreams….So was Shane….There's this hole in the wall (literally- see pic below) in the middle of Central Park that is known for it's fantastic NYC bagels….so while I ran, the hubs and friends hunted the hole in the wall down and Shane had his birthday NYC bagel and a cherry coke :)

The pond with all the cute little sailboats!

The girlies….

After our adventures in Central Park…we headed to stroll down 5th Avenue!

The birthday boy just takin' it all in …...

We saw all the biggie stores, etc along our walk….including Trump Tower….

Rockefeller Center!

Grand Central Station!

How many segments of movies have been made here??!

Along our walk, we came across this store….which is the name of our sweet, precious niece that Shane's brother and sister-in-law are currently in Uganda getting to bring home!!!! We cannot wait to get our hands on sweet little Zara!!

We jumped on the subway and headed to Chinatown…our next stop on the birthday adventures….

We had to walk about a mile to Chinatown….saw some really cool buildings along the way….

And then it was like BOOM….you are now in Chinatown :)

Kat and Colby lived in Taiwan for a couple of years and as we passed random fruit stands, they would get us to try fruit that we had never seen before….this was a red spikey-looking piece….didn't look so tasty on the outside….but it was actually SO yummy on the inside!

Shane's choice for birthday lunch….Prosperity Dumpling…it was rated 5 stars for it's 10 dumplings for like $2….and they did not disappoint!

After lunch, Kat and Colby were craving these random something-or-others (can't recall the real name)….they are like flavored tea drinks, with creme in them and these really odd little crystal-feeling balls that float in them….they talked us into trying them…..

Shane was a fan….me..not-so-much :)

After our adventures in China town….we headed to check out the Brooklyn Bridge….

City view from the Bridge….super cool.

As we were walking over the Brooklyn Bridge….it started to MONSOON. So, we took cover for a few under the middle of bridge….but there was no letting up of the monsoon….so we had to sprint about 1/2 mile in the down pour to the subway station….below is a pre-sprint-in-monsoon pic….

We made it back to our apartment, changed out of our soaking clothes, and then let the blood/swelling drain from our legs from the zillion miles of walking :)

Shane & I got ready to go out for his big 4-0 birthday dinner….

He chose….Da Andrea….authentic Italian….

It was AMAZING

His birthday desert….the BEST EVER APPLE TART AND ICECREAM EVER EVER EVER….I'm serious people…it was that good. And the birthday boy was SUPER PUMPED :)

After yummo dinner pic….

We took a stroll after dinner….that's def. a cool entrance to a park.. :)

To end the super awesome 4-0 birthday celebration adventures….we met up with the crew at this really cool little bar to hang out. …EXCELLENT DAY 2…..one more day to go….
