Kaylea visits for VBS!

My niece, Kaylea, came and stayed with us during our VBS week back in June. The girls LOOOOVED having cousin Kaylea stay at their house. The momma got a taste of what 3 girlies under one roof would be like. One word: D.R.A.M.A.  :))

Kaylea reading the girls some bedtime books :)

Good Morning! Maaaannnn....they all look SUPER happy :)

I guess they just needed a little breakfast to wake them up :)

Time for VBS to begin!!!! The theme this year was "SKY". We decorated the halls like a city skyline with all kinds of things in the SKY....

The AMAZING VBS cooking team. Seriously, you guys deserve a gold medal. Not joking :)
The masses eating dinner in the "Airplane Hanger"....

After all the food is served, every mouth full, all the dishes cleaned, and everything ready for the next night-THEN, the blessed cooking team and helpers get to eat their dinner. I'm telling ya-gold medals!!
Brynn, Mandy, and I were in charge of crafts and journaling this year. Super fun. We make edible crafts each night and they go along with the Bible theme for that day. The first night was blue jello hearts (representing how our hearts can get "blue" ie discouraged, down, lonely sometimes) and then each kid got to cover their blue heart with whipped creme (representing God's comfort for our blue hearts) and then a strawberry was placed on top of the whipped creme (representing God's unconditional love for us). Here is Brynn and Mandy modeling the soon to be craft :)

Welcome to our craft/journal room!
After everyone makes their craft, then we pass out journals and each night we ask the kids a "heart" question about the theme of the night. They then have some time to write or draw an answer to the question each night. I love the journal time. It 's amazing to see what the Lord does in these young hearts throughout the week.....
Each age group is broken up into crews and then each crew has one or two crew leaders that are with them throughout the evening to help guide them to the next event, talk with them, etc.....

After the first night was done, we decided to finish off the whipped creme in style! ha! All I need is a preggo stomach in this pic to make it complete with the other two.....ummmm, NO THANKS :)))

After all the kiddos go through the different stations (crafts/journal, Bible story, Games, Group Discussions)- then everyone comes back into the sanctuary for a final night rally and close-up. We sing the VBS songs, watch some videos that were taken throughout the evening and then get to watch entertainment from these three.....

Of course everyone is dancin' it up during the songs....

Skits....

Jocie with her fishie face :)

Here are some pics from other crafts we did througout the week. I don't have time to explain them all-but, trust me, they were REALLY cool!! :)))

It was interesting how on this particular craft night, many of the other leaders happened to stop by :))
Of course the daddy was one of our visitors :) Lovin' the expression, Jim!

Barbells!!

Some of the K-4s showing off their butterflys....

On the 4th night of VBS, the daddy showed up late after he got done with his all-day counseling sessions. I saw him for a brief moment, but then he disappeared. No one seemed to know where he had went. Well, Annie happened to stumble into one of the offices and found this.....Daddy tired! ha!

What else did we do while Kaylea visited????
We went swimming!!

We went to the movies!! This was the girls first time EVER to the movies. They were PUMPED!

We went to Chick-fil-A!! OF COURSE :)
We played dress-up and make-believe!!
The daddy got to join us for the last part of the night a couple of nights during VBS. The girls were SOOOO excited he was there....

It was so great having Kaylea come stay the week with us and come to VBS with us. Here she is with her sweet crew leader, Martha...

AND this represents what my personal life was like during the week of VBS....haha!!!
